Wedyan – The Canal marks Kengo Kuma’s first project in Dubai, developed by Al Ghurair as a waterfront destination shaped by the interplay of architecture, water,
and landscape. Rooted in Kuma’s human-scaled approach, the design explores fluidity, layering, and spatial sequence within a contemporary urban setting.
Our visual approach focused on translating this sensitivity into a cohesive language across both still imagery and the accompanying animation submitted alongside
this entry.
Emphasis was placed on atmosphere, material expression, and the gradual unfolding of space, capturing how the project reveals itself through movement, light, and perspective.
The calm and clarity are extended in the animation into a continuous narrative, expressing the rhythm and choreography of the development. Together, they aim to communicate not only the architectural intent, but the immersive, experience-driven environment at the core of Wedyan.
