The caretaker of the manor came once more to perform the routine tending of the Cabell family. A heavy iron door ensures the undisturbed rest of those who departed this life long ago. As he opens it, he surveys the two-story chamber of circular design, just as he does on every second visit. He always chooses the same hour—noon—when the sun’s rays gently spill into the space through the circular opening in the ceiling and cut through the darkness. The atmosphere within the family tomb chamber is cold, yet a subtle breeze keeps it light.
