Notes
This is an image I produced for Coffey Architects (www.coffeyarchitects.com) for a feature in Intelligent Life magazine on the future of the bookshop. Their idea was that books would take on a similar status to vinyl today - a rarified, artisanal format enjoyed by those who valued the tactile experience only bound paper can offer. The shop would offer a place not only to buy books, but for people to make them and to gather for talks and discusions.
I was given great freedom to develop the look of the image, based on discussions around Terry Gilliam's film Brazil, and the details that went into the space they had designed.
Thanks go out to Secret Cinema (www.secretcinema.org) for allowing me to use some people from their Brazil event in the image as well as Urban Cottage Industries (www.urbancottageindustries.com) for the projected images.
Produced using Maya, Mental Ray, Mental Core, Photoshop & Magic Bullet Looks.
